James Lovell embraced financial planning early in his career, earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) designation in 1986.

Jim talks about his career and how helps his clients.

In 1984, I joined my father´s financial planning firm located in Massachusetts. We were affiliated with a large Broker/Dealer firm that catered to independent financial planners. We helped clients develop financial plans and implement investment allocations.

I moved to New Hampshire after my father retired and I subsequently joined Northwestern Mutual in 1989. I chose Northwestern Mutual because I wanted to be affiliated with a high quality company that had a long history of delivering quality products and services to its clients.

My primary focus is to help my clients retire with confidence.

Over the past 37 years, I have developed the following philosophy:

“Due to market volatility and uncertainty of government actions, it is impossible to consistently and accurately predict the next move. Therefore, I firmly believe it is important to develop a customized, strategic segmentation of resources to strike the right balance between "defense" and "offense." Defense seeks to provide stability of asset value and income, as well as protection against a potential significant financial loss in the event of a market down-turn, death, disability or long-term care need. Offense seeks to provide a competitive return while managing risk, by maintaining a broadly diversified, disciplined approach that is designed based on your objectives, timeframe and risk tolerance.”
